Frequently Asked Questions
Will you take our cat/s that we no longer want?

No. You need to contact your local humane society

Where are you located?

We are foster-home based, which means that our kitties live in our personal homes. We are based in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin

Why don't you list a phone number?

Being that we are volunteers doing this out of our personal homes, we work better with e-mail.

What are your hours?

We don’t have hours, as we don’t have a facility. If your adoption application is accepted we will schedule a time for you to see the kittens.

Can I reserve a bottle baby or tiny kitten so I can adopt it when it is older?

Unfortunately no. Bottle Babies are very fragile and don’t always make it to adulthood, as they have an extremely hard start at life. Spaying and neutering also carries risks. We also don’t know their personality until they are a bit older, and it might not be a good match

What are your adoption rates?

$100 for one kitten and $180 for two. $50 for an adult cat

Your adoption rate seems high. Why so much?

We are actually adopting at a large loss. In order to raise a kitten, here are the things that Almost Home Kitty Rescue has to pay for long before it is ready to be adopted:

  • KMR – Kitten Milk Replacement – $18 a can for 4+ weeks
  • Baby kitten bottles
  • High Quality moist food for 2-9 months or so
  • High Quality dry food for 2-9 months or so
  • Litter for 2-9 months or so
  • 3 distemper shots
  • Syringes and needles for shots
  • 2-3 meds for deworming
  • Revolution
  • 1 rabies shot
  • Spay or neuter
  • Laundry
  • Vet visit(s)
  • Medicines (so many things can go wrong and require medicine)
  • Microchip

Shared by more than one kitten

  • tents
  • toys
  • litter box
  • cat trees
How does Almost Home Kitty Rescue pay for the above items?

Mostly by hand-making and selling kickers and other toys. We do (thankfully) receive donations of money and/or items, and are able to get the kittens spayed/neutered at a discount.
